Examples of Hyperlinear Groups without Factorization Property

چکیده

In this note we give an example of a group which is locally embeddable into finite groups (in particular it is initially subamenable, sofic and hence hyperlinear) but does not have Kirchberg’s factorization property. This group provides also an example of a sofic Kazhdan group which is not residually finite, answering a question from [ES05]. We also give an example of a group which is not initially subamenable but hyperlinear. Finally, we point out a mistake in [Kir94, Corollary 1.2 (v)⇒(i)] and [Kir93, Corollary 7.3(iii)] and provide an example of a group which does not have the factorization property and is still a subgroup of a connected finitedimensional Lie group.

$n$-factorization Property of Bilinear Mappings

In this paper, we define a new concept of factorization for a bounded bilinear mapping $f:Xtimes Yto Z$, depended on  a natural number $n$ and a cardinal number $kappa$; which is called $n$-factorization property of level $kappa$. Then we study the relation between $n$-factorization property of  level $kappa$ for $X^*$ with respect to $f$ and automatically boundedness and $w^*$-$w^*$-continuity...

Hyperlinear and Sofic Groups: A Brief Guide

This is an introductory survey of the emerging theory of two new classes of (discrete, countable) groups, called hyperlinear and sofic groups. They can be characterized as subgroups of metric ultraproducts of families of, respectively, unitary groups U(n) and symmetric groups Sn, n ∈ N. Hyperlinear groups come from theory of operator algebras (Connes’ Embedding Problem), while sofic groups, int...

Triple factorization of non-abelian groups by two maximal subgroups

The triple factorization of a group $G$ has been studied recently showing that $G=ABA$ for some proper subgroups $A$ and $B$ of $G$, the definition of rank-two geometry and rank-two coset geometry which is closely related to the triple factorization was defined and calculated for abelian groups. In this paper we study two infinite classes of non-abelian finite groups $D_{2n}$ and $PSL(2,2^{n})$...

Topological Centers and Factorization of Certain Module Actions

Let $A$ be a Banach algebra and $X$ be a Banach $A$-bimodule with the left and right module actions $pi_ell: Atimes Xrightarrow X$ and $pi_r: Xtimes Arightarrow X$, respectively. In this paper, we  study  the topological centers of the left module action $pi_{ell_n}: Atimes X^{(n)}rightarrow X^{(n)}$ and the right module action $pi_{r_n}:X^{(n)}times Arightarrow X^{(n)}$,  which inherit from th...
